Lal Mirchi Bombs – Red Chilli Pickle Stuffed with grated Raw Mango

When I say bombs, I mean it, because a jar of Lal Mirchi Bombs is packed with spicy and flavourful bharwan aam Mirchi pickle, and with every bite of it you can taste the spurt of a flavor bomb. We Indians love mango and chili pickles, but Lal Mirchi Bombs is a unique way of savoring your preferred flavors in a pickle.

Though a very traditional Indian pickle recipe, not many are aware of the procedure and ingredients that go in bharwan aam Mirchi pickle. When a well-processed bunch of super spicy Bhavnagri Red whole chilies get filled with tangy and spicy raw Ram Kela mango and pickled with mustard oil, it creates this aromatic achar. The flavor of this achar is hard to forget.

This summer, I hoarded some fiery Bhavnagri red whole chilies right from Gujarat and thought of putting it to the right use. So after cleaning and drying it properly, I deseeded them to keep the level of heat comfortable. Next, instead of mixing it normally with raw chopped mangoes, I grated some fresh raw Ram Kela mango, mixed it with some handpicked, sundried, roasted, and home blend spices, and stuffed the whole chilies with the mango mixture. The concoction of spices with mustard oil and tangy mango oozes out a sharp and peppery flavor, turning every nibble of your meal into a flavor bomb.

As you bite through the hot and fleshy layer of the chili, your taste buds will get stunned with the pungent grated raw mango mixed with spices with a very distinctive essence, adding on the goodness of raw mango.
