Description
Jamboo, also known locally as Faran, is a rare perennial herb native to the Alpine Himalayas of Uttarakhand, found at altitudes above 2,500 meters. Known for its intense aroma and subtle pungency, Jamboo is used widely in Pahari households as a flavorful tempering agent, particularly in lentils (dals) and soups.
Unlike cumin, Jamboo imparts a deeper, more complex flavour with smoky, earthy, and mildly garlicky notes. When added to hot ghee and used to temper a dish, it releases a rich aroma that instantly elevates even the simplest preparation.
