One masala that is a must-have in the pantry of any household, is this mouth puckering, lip-smacking, salty, spicy and tangy, Chaat Masala. One relishes this masala not only on our regular chaats like pani puri, papri chaat, tikki chaat, but also can also be sprinkled over fruits or vegetables or a salad.
This chaat masala is complex, you get the perfect aroma of roasted cumin, tanginess from dry mango powder (we don’t use citric acid in our chaat masala), saltiness from a combination of rock salt and black salt, spiciness from black pepper and red chillies. Overall, a pinch of this spice blend is enough to elevate /finish off your dish.
I personally love spices, love going to the spice market myself, choose each and every spice carefully, roast them individually over lowest heat to get the essential oils working, grind them individually and then mix to make this chaat masala.
